One of the girls I met at one of the cafes emailed me and we decided to meet up later in the week. We arranged to meet to visit the shounen jump store before heading to one of her favourite maid cafes and then to a booking she made for us at a butler cafe in Akihabara.
Follow the cut for a long post!

This maid cafe in Akihabara was all styled to look like an old English town. The maids were all dressed in victorian style maid outfits and the decor was lots of books with wooden furniture. We were given some iced tea and given a menu by one of the maids and sat down. There was another person in the cafe but it was pretty quiet as it was a weird time in the morning/afternoon.
The girl I was with was a regular but the maid explained some things about the cafe to me as I was knew. They had lots of books around the maids and profiles for each maid with each having a cute chibi/anime drawing of themselves. The staff rotate also. Most of the maids seemed to be fujoshi and really into anime along with film and photography. The cafe also has different events where people can show up and discuss certain anime/manga in a group with the maids. Along with these profiles they have a manga book of a bunch of small joke comics of the maids drawn chibi style as they are really committed to creating a story with the maids and setting. There was also a cute map to look like a small countryside English town. Overall it was super cute and recommend checking it out!

I had caramel banana waffles with apple iced tea at the butler cafe.
The butler cafe requires you to book beforehand on their website and is through an elevator in a shop in Akihabara. When we arrived on the floor we had a butler note us down and told us that we were going up another level and what was going to happen. We went up the next level and then we were sat down by one of the butlers. Their uniform is very black butler style tuxedo and some of them were pretty cute. We were sat down at a table and the room was pretty dim but very classy and comfortable. The butler gave us wet towls first and then went to explain how the menu and ordering works. We had to pick at least one type of tea and something from one of the menus. I picked the waffles and apple tea and my friend picked a bacon salad. There was a whole lot of options and you could have the tea hot or cold. I was very impressed by the waffles and I really enjoyed the ice cream and waffle mix. The call the butlers you'd need to ring the bell which made me pretty embarrassed. The cafe filled up a lot as it was lunch time and seemed pretty busy so this butler cafe was obviously very popular.
Close up of the waffles.
Overall I had a really nice day! We also visited some arcades and some shops in Akihabara. It was really fun to meet a new friend while in Japan and to try out these cafes that I would've had trouble visiting without a fluent Japanese speaker. The butler cafe was very fast and super polite japanese and I'm pretty sure I would've been lost without her.
